CHILDREN & YOUTH

CHILDREN & YOUTH

Welcome!

“ He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.”
Matthew 18:2-6
Kingston Road United welcomes people of all ages, children, youth, and their families. Children and youth are at the center of our life as a community of faith and we welcome you and all of your gifts and talents to every part of our community life.

Kingston Road United Church in partnership with The GO Project is on the forefront of innovation with our children, youth, and young adult ministry. We have programs here at Kingston Road to join, as well as with community groups and fellow communities of faith in our city! Whatever your age, there is a place for you at KRU. A place to explore, deepen, question, and discern your faith.

Infants

  • Infants are welcome in worship and there is a cozy spot with rocking chairs, books, and activities for families to sit as they worship, if they wish.

Children

  • Sunday School: Children ages 5-12 are invited to our weekly Sunday School time. Children join worship with their families at 10:30am, and then leave for a time of learning and fellowship after an all ages story time in the service.
  • Choir: Children are invited to join weekly choir practice in the KRU Singing Crew on 6:30pm on Wednesday evenings. Email katie@thegoproject.ca for more information.
  • Bedtime Story: Every Thursday at 6pm, join our ministry team for a bedtime story; a short, informal time to read a story together to wind down for the night. Bring paper and crayons to draw how you feel and what you hear throughout the story.
  • Youth: Teens ages 13-18 are invited to join Sunday school or stay in worship. Youth Group meets every two weeks after choir on Wednesdays.
  • Confirmation: Each year, KRU offers an opportunity for teens to confirm their membership in the church and explore their relationship with the church and with God.
  • Families: We host seasonal family events that families can attend together. Fall farm days, Advent crafts, winter skating, Spring hikes, and summer beach days!
    Email
katie@thegoproject.ca to sign up for event details.

Meet our Team

Kingston Road United Church is pleased to partner with The GO Project for children & youth ministry. Alana, along with her colleague Amy McClelland bring our children and teen ministry to life.

Rev. Alana Martin

Alana is a Diaconal Minister in the United Church of Canada and works as the Minister to The GO Project, a ministry that inspires children and youth to put their faith and love into action in the world. Alana feels a deep call to creating accessible resources for young people to discover and deepen their faith in a way that compels them to follow in Christ’s model of love, anti-racism, humility, and respect.

Katie Vardy

Katie has worked with The GO Project for two-years, and was a youth participant before that. They are a Master of Divinity student at Emmanuel College, and a lover of coffee, pets, and affirming ministries. Katie loves the community created in ministry programs for young people and brings that passion to all work they do.
